Seized by the soldiers in the garden of Gethsemane, he is taken to the customary interrogation by the Sanhedrin (the Jewish court that met in the houses of the high priest - Caiaphas - and his father-in-law and former high priest - Annas) to which the accused were subjected. The faces express the anxiety of finding false accusatory testimonies. The opulence of the priests' clothing reveals the false piety of the Jewish patriarchs.
