Chinese Yellow jade carved in the shape of a sheep laying on it's legs in relaxed position, the head is facing the right shoulder, with two ewes relaxing behind and another laying beside. Well presented upon a carved hardwood stand. The Jade shows moist milky appearance with even tone creme-celadon iridescent. The sheep, ram or goat (yang) is one of the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. The sheep (yang) has the same pronunciation and therefore symbolizes the male principle yang in Yin Yang and also the "sun" (yang). Sheep kneel when they nurse which to Confucians symbolize "filial piety" as bowing to the mother.
