The nephrite jade carved in shape of curved tropical leaf covered box, with a cicada and a beetle on top. The interior smooth carved, and finely polished. Displayed upon carved hardwood base. As an emblem of immortality and resurrection the cicada often appeared on birthday gifts in China, representing wishes for the recipient's longevity.
