A Chinese small blue and white globular incense burner, Tianqi or Chongzhen, first half of 17th century, on three short feet, decorated with a scholar, attendant and floral spray, with original paper exhibition label for 'O.C.S 1994 16th. Study Ex.,' and script no. 98, 7 cm diameter Provenance: Purchased by the late J.B. da Silva (1918-2003) at Sotheby's, 2nd February 1960, Lot 11, for £8.00 and by family descent. No receipt but itemised in collection notes. Published: Oriental Art, Spring 1985, Vol. XXXI No. 1, illustrated figure 3, page 44.
