A small rare Chinese blue and white jarlet, zhou tou guan, Yongzheng (1722-1735), decorated with feathery scrolling floral elements around the body, and traditional classic scrolls around the flange, the base partly glazed, 5cm high Provenance: From the collection of the late J.B. da Silva (1918-2003) and by family descent. Bought at Phillips, for £30, 14th January 1976, lot 59. No receipt but itemised in collection notes. Compare with a very similar jarlet, with same feathery elements, from the Henry J Oppenheim collection at the British Museum, accession number 1947, 0712.201 and illustrated in, Soame Jenyns, Later Chinese Porcelain, 1951, plate IX, Fig.1c.
