Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Cypriot culture, Iron Age, Cypro-Geometric Phase, ca. 900 to 750 BCE. A lovely pottery dish boasting intricate, hand-painted decoration on its underside, consisting of black and maroon linear, zigzag, lattice, circle, and swastika motifs on a creamy beige ground. Sitting upon a broad, ring-form foot, the sizeable vessel presents an annular form with thick wall that rise to a wide rim above a shallow basin, all flanked by a pair of tubular, arched handles. The interior of the dish is additionally adorned by several concentric circles, a traditional characteristic of Cypriot pottery.
