Roman, Imperial Period, possibly North Africa or Holyland, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An attractive pair of pottery oil lamps, both with relief decoration. First, the more petite lamp displays a projecting spout, an annular fill hole, a tab-shaped handle, and a curved shoulder adorned with a relief geometric motif. Alternatively, the larger presents a discoid body with a central, circular fill hole, a petite spout, a slanted shoulder, and a flat top stamped with an astral design surrounded by a dotted pattern. Size of larger: 3.5" Diameter x 1" H (8.9 cm x 2.5 cm) Provenance: ex-Nancy and Dr. E.F.
