East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A fine set of 2 hand-built pottery vessels from the Ming Dynasty that spent ample time underwater in a shipwreck. The first vessel is a squat jarlet with a flat base, an apple-shaped body, and 3 petite handles surrounding the shoulder. The larger vase is of a tall form with an inverted piriform body, a squat neck surmounted by a thick rim, and 4 handles surrounding the shoulder.
