AN ARCHAISTIC CELADON AND RUSSET JADE FIGURE OF A BAT, QINGChina, Qing dynasty (1644-1912). Crafted with fine workmanship in the style of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, the piece is meticulously executed by hand and with no modern tool marks. Carved in the form of a bat with bulging eyes above a protruding snout and ears flicked back, the body flanked by large wings finely detailed with an archaistic scroll pattern, the underside revealing the feet. The semi-translucent stone of a deep celadon tone with russet and ochre patches.Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and a chip to one wing. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent. Acquired in the Hong Kong antiques market in the early 1990s. Weight: 74 g Dimensions: Height 2.5 cm
