AN ARCHAISTIC WHITE AND RUSSET JADE FIGURE OF A LIZARD, QINGChina, Qing dynasty (1644-1912). Skillfully carved without the use of modern tools, this piece demonstrates superior craftsmanship quality and attention to detail. Carved as a half-coiled lizard, its head turned backwards and licking the tail with its long reptilian tongue, the scales are meticulously rendered. The smoothly polished, semi-translucent stone of a white tone with faint russet inclusions and surface alterations.Condition: Very good condition with minor wear. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
