AN ARCHAISTIC YELLOW JADE ‘DRAGON’ WASHERChina, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) or later. The oval bowl incised with a geometric border below the rim, one side carved with a protruding dragon head with bulging eyes, long whiskers and two horns, the mouth open revealing fangs and tongue. The underside with an apocryphal imperial mark (potentially added later) reading: The palace collection. The smoothly polished, translucent stone of a pale-yellow tone with faint russet inclusions and few dark speckles.Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and some nicks and nibbling to the borders of the bowl. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent. Acquired in the Hong Kong antiques market in the early 1990s.Weight: 212 g Dimensions: Length 18.5 cm
