AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ FIGURE OF A DRAGONChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The mythical beast seated on its haunches, one front paw raised, with a curved tail, its head with an undercut beard and snout raised, mouth wide open in a howl exposing its tongue and fangs. The figure surmounted on an oval base and the body adorned with neatly incised archaistic patterns.Condition: Good condition with traces of wear and age, rubbing to the gilt, slight warping, a small hole to the underside of the base, and some areas of malachite and cuprite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
