AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ FIGURE OF A BULL AND TIGERChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The large bull cowered down and with its head lowered, the tiger clambering onto the bull’s back, opening its ferocious mouth wide into a snarling attack and biting into the bull’s shoulder. The figure with finely incised archaistic patterns.Condition: Good condition with minor wear, rubbing to the gilt, a small casting flaw to the left side of the bull’s face, and some areas of malachite and cuprite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
