AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ FIGURE OF A MYTHICAL BIRDChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The bird standing on its two webbed feet, with an inward-curved beak as well as a curled crest on its head, and its body flanked by two up spread wings. The tail is formed by a dragon head with an elongated tongue. The body decorated with neatly incised archaistic patterns and zoomorphic elements.Condition: Good condition with minimal surface wear, rubbing to the gilt, and some areas of malachite, and cuprite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
