AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ VESSEL OF A MYTHOLOGICAL ANIMAL AND BIRDChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The vessel rising from a high flared oval foot, the body in the shape of a mythical animal with large bulging eyes, two large antennas, the lid in the shape of a bird, and the handle in the form of a stylized dragon. The vessel and the lid decorated with finely incised archaistic motifs and zoomorphic elements.Condition: Good condition with traces of wear and age, rubbing to the gilt, and areas of malachite, azurite, and cuprite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
