AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ EWER WITH BIRD HEADChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The bulbous body rising from a flared foot to a tall neck in the shape of a bird head, with its beak slightly open, the lid in the form of the bird’s comb, and a stylized dragon handle. The ewer decorated with finely incised archaistic patterns as well as a depiction of a bird with its wings widespread within a round cartouche.Condition: Good condition with minor traces of wear and age, rubbing to the gilt, manufacturing flaws, and areas of malachite, azurite, and cuprite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent. Acquired in the Hong Kong antiques market in the early 1990s.Weight: 246 g Dimensions: Height 19.3 cm
