AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ CENSERChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The rectangular parcel-gilt censer supported by four column legs, each decorated with taotie masks, the rim with two upright loop handles, the four corners with stylized scrolling dragon flanges. The body adorned with archaistic patterns, taotie masks and zoomorphic elements including rams.Condition: Very good condition with traces of wear and age, rubbing to the gilt, and malachite, azurite, and cuprite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
