Calling himself "the Deaf Daoist" he abandoned painting with a brush in his 40's, choosing to express himself with ink solely applied by his fingers and palms. This charming depiction of chicks demonstrates his skillful touch. The Sichuan Provincial Museum holds over 20 examples of the artist's work, and in March 2002, they dedicated an exhibition to the artist's work. The tradition of finger painting is an interesting sub-genre of Chinese painting, and in addition to this lot, the following two lots, lot 806 by Dai Yuanjun (1912-1982) and lot 807 Wu Yefu (born 1926) and are also created with this technique.
