AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ FIGURE OF A MYTHICAL BEASTChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The mythical beast with large talons, its wings stretched back and out, a large upright tail plume, with its mouth open, a prominent nose and large pointy ears. The figure surmounted on a round base and the bird’s body decorated with archaistic and zoomorphic elements.Condition: Overall Good condition with minor traces of wear and age, manufacturing flaws, warping, rubbing to the gilt, and areas of malachite and cuprite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
